I LOVE SINGAPORE

I LOVE SINGAPORE

I LOVE SINGAPORE

Blek.....Oh yeah...went for this NE Show yesterday...whoa, everybody was wearing red. it's actually meant for students in Singapore. It's a preview/rehearsal of the actualy National Day Parade 2004!!! Yeah, NDP 2004. Hmm...think i can't help it, but i caught the Enthu-siasm of the Singaporeans. Yeah, one thing that i've noticed, everyone of them is proud of their country. Country only that is, not thei govt or edu. system =P

Compared to Malaysians, we don't even care about what our country does. Honestly, there's nothing much to be proud of. I mean, how proud can one be with a fellow countryman swimming the longest distance, sailing the world and having the longest bridge...like, duh! But rest assured, what i'm proud of....is the simplicity of being a Malaysian. And the good food back there....yeah...GOOD FOOD. Nothing beats that. And the friendliness level in Malaysia.....particularly in Penang, nothing beats that!

Oh yeah, coming back to what i did yesterday. Hmm...let me recall, oh yeah...everyone was wearing red. And we did what typical Singaporeans do...WAIT. They spend half of thei lives waiting, haha. So, waited from 3-5.30....simply waiting. But think it was worth it. Especially when the parade started, was filled with Fireworks. oh, Gurmit Singh was one of the host, really funny guy.Forgot to take a picture of him. Then, there were gunshots and balloons released...really GREAT show!

It's rather ironic, me having to attend a NDP in singapore when i haven't even attended one in my own coutry before, haha.

But either way, i dunno what's been happening with me lately. First, i broke my phone. Then, i lost my student card. THen, i left Suan Sim's umbrella in the Cab. Then when i bought a phone card to call my parents back home, it was faulty! Wonder what else will happen.....

Well, guess i'd better get back to homework and studies. 9 more weeks till Promos!!! Wah Lau. Also think i'm coming down with flu. Sigh, don't think i'll go for the racial harmony dinner at night in the hostel. Waste time nia....2 horus sit down...i'll just have cup noodles....typical malaysian.

Bad luck comes in three

Had such a bad day today.

Well, started out with a BORING day. Was Student Council commendation day. Went to the St.Andrew's Cathedral. Oh, the choir and the SFC got to sit behind the stage (a.k.a. facing the bishop's butt). Then, the service started and he actually repeated the same phrase to each councillor! Thank God it ended son enough, an hour at most.

After that, had an SFC meeting at McD. Oh, BIG n TASTY's real nice. Juicy with fresh veges in it. Best burger i've tasted in McD s'far.

Back to the point, just after that, i just had to lose my Student Ezlink card. Boarded a bus and tapped my wallet, but no "teet-teet" sound. Sigh. Searched my whole wallet and bag, but nothing in there. Must've have dropped in in Orchard. Wonder how! So called up the hotline and they told me there might be a possibility of it being found, have to wait a few days and call back up. I really pray hard it'll be found. If not, have to go through all the trouble making a new card and paying $19 for it !!!!

Hmm...what i'm doing now here, killing some time till it's 9 o'clock. Wanna call my parents. Oh yeah, just bought a phone card downstairs and it didn't work!!! There goes my $10

Told you bad things come one after another. 1st my HP, then my student card, now phone card. Wonder what's next....maybe knocked down by bus. Oh, tomorrow i'll be going to school to clean the library with my class. Probably a bookshelf's gonna fall on me! Or after that, goin to National Day parade. Probably gonna get trampled over. Can't help but think of all the possibilities....sigh....sigh...sigh..

Better get back to my prayers...GOD HELP !

=)

Freaking boring day ! Except for BK, yummy!

Today, the last period of classes were eaten up by this thing called S3 seminar. So freaking boring. the peopl from the army were going on and on about how well Singapore is prepared to defend itself. And of all things, a Malaysian scholar had to go up to ask some lame questions. Everybody was like "DUH!".

Either way, just got back from school. Like had a very long day. After the lame seminar, had to go for and SFC exco meeting. Met up with the senior excos and Mrs.Wong. The first meeting, they made me keep minutes! Was writing like crazy when their ideas poured out for Christian Ministry Week. Whew! But i'm sure i'll get used to it soon enough. Especially with the coming back after 9 everyday !

Well, the consolation for today, had to eat Burger King and not sucky hostel food =). What did i eat...hmm....think it's that long chicken burger. I can't really remember. All i know was that Sue Ann had this BK vouchers, and saw the "save $..." sign that was the most value for money one. Just chose that one. Had a good meal for $4. Not back =P.

Think i'll go downstairs in awhile. Sophia's gonna leave for JPA scholarship. THink i'll met her for the last time....

My whole body's Aching

Talk about PE! We just had a new saddistic PE teacher yesterday. THe first thing he said was to jog three rounds for a "warm-up". Those of us who failed NAPFA had to run another 4 rounds! And with push-ups, pull-ups, jumping to chest and standing broad jump, felt like dying after that !!!!

Either way, thank God yesterday was rather fine and good things compensated for it. I actually passed my Chem test ! Then, got Exco post in SFC, being Secretary cum treasere, yeah ! Oh, on Sunday dropped my 6100. So frustrated and Sim Thia! But thankfully went to Nokia CAre and they would repair it for me for free ! But right now, have to be handphone-less for a few days. Feel so insecure !

Today...nothing much happened. Heard that a classmate of mine has to see the principal tomorrow cause of something she wrote in her blog against a teacher. Whoa...freaky!

THink i'll get back to doing GP.

Red and White, HORRID!

Oh sheesh ! Of all the worst things that my boarding school could do, they decorated the whole of the borading school with Singaporean flags! FLAG after FLAG after FLAG....such an eyesore. It's not the fact that about it being Singaporean. If they had decorated it wtih Malaysian flags, i would've said the same thing....Sheesh, have to bear with it for a month till national day is over !

Come to think of it, I'm actually going to collect donations during flag day next week! All for CIP points ! At first, thought i actually have to sell Singaporean flags...i was like "OVER MY DEAD BODY!"

But later I was told it was only those giving out small stickers when someone gave a donation. Whew.

Oh anyway, i'll go off now. Have to pack my bags for church camp i'm going later. Be back on Sunday. =)

5.5 hours of sleep ain't enough!

Yawn....i just woke up. School was so tiring, even with PE lessons cancelled and an early day off at 3.00. Though ,the moment i got back, i jumped into my bed and ZZZZZZ....

Either way, lemme recount what happened in school today. Got my Bio MCQ and CHem MCQ back. Surprisingly got 26/30 and 11/15 respectively. Didn't really expect to get that high for Chem. But gonna fail when my Paper 2 comes anyway, so doesn't really matter.

Oh, we had a new Bio teacher, taking over Mr.Marcus. Sheesh, such a bore she was today. Asking us to introduce ourselves one by one and tell us our expectations of her before she goes on rambling about her expectations of us....yadda yadda yadda.... And the worst thing was when she touche about proper attire. She said some of the girls in my class were wearing their skirts too short. And i was surprised that she actually told them to stand up and "paraded" the inappropriate skirt length !!!

So anyway, distributed some chewing gum to my classmates, though i didn't really gain much gratitude from them =P.

Oh, tomorrow's college day. The class (as in most of the Singaporeans) are making handicrafts and other things to sell. Seems like we, Malaysian scholars are invisible at this point of time. We're like so lost doing nothing about it, and not being told what to do. All we know is that we have to come for college day, full-stop. Well, guess there will always be clicks everyway =p

Think i'll go get more good sleep in awhile. So tired. And probably flip through the MAO book i borrowed from the library =)

Wait wait wait.....hate queues!

I'm now in my school library trying to kill 1.5 hours before I have to report for my Malay Oral test. You see, there's this mix up over whether we should take the oral exam or do the Bio SPA. We were initially told to report for SPA at 12.00. Now it's cancelled and we have to wait till 2.00 for the oral exams!

I suppose every Singaporean spends half of their lives in a queue. Like what i'm doing now, waiting for my Malay oral exam. And after reporting, we actually have to wait a few more hours in a quarantine room before we can actually sit for the exam!

Back to my point, just take a typicaql Singaporean day. It's waiting for the bus or MRT, if not taxis. If you go to the worst places to eat, you still have to queue or wait for your food. And if your were to go to supposedly 'nicer' places, like the Lorong 13 Klang Bah Kut Teh we went to the other day, it took up to 30 minutes! Last month, it took me and my friends 45 minutes to get movie tix!!! And in the end, we didn't even get the movie we wanted coz it was full! What a total waste of time! Well, don't let me recount how long we have to wait to get a place to sit in the Plaza Sing food court !!! Yeah, and it took me ages to register for a phoneline in Singtel !

The only thing comparable to the queues in Singapore is the Malaysian Immigration. I think that's enough to explain all =)

Till then, think I'll go get some books to read from the library and wait in line to actually borrow them !

Thank God I'm not a Chinese from PRC

You see, as i'm typing this, my PRC roomates are in the background speaking in so-called Mandarin. They are so freaking noisy. I'm beginning to get quite pissed of at the ammount of noise they make and their marketplace language they use. It's so irritating. They come home in the middle of the night and start blabbering to each other in some Chinese slang which I barely understand....they go on and on. Just when you want to have some peace and relaxation, their conversations starts again. And they speak as loud as if they were 100 metres apart.

See..there they go again...sheesh!!! Thankfully, they will be leaving soon, probably in a week or two to get into NUS. Can't wait till then. I'll have the four-bedder room all by myself. Though, I do admit it gets creepy sometimes in the middle of the night. Yeah, sleeping alone in such a big room isn't that fun altogether. It gets really lonely at times, and you can't help but wonder what the other guys in the four-bedder rooms are doing together, probably watching a movie or having some fun. Then, when ligths are off, you can't help but wonder whether you're the only one in the room. After all, you need to leave some windows open for ventilation............

Hah, whatever it is, i'm glad that tomorrow, the tests are gonna be over. It sometimes pisses me off to think that in order to get a good job, to make a living, you have to first face all this exams. And with me wanting to take up Law, I know I'm going to really hate picking up all those statutes to memorise and read.

Oh, talking about Law, i was sharing with Favian the other day about wanting to pursue the career after A-Levels. He was like "hmm....with your face, you're half way there". Hah, well it's almost fully proven that i've an evil looking face. Accompanied by a sick smile and fierce eyes, who wouldn't mistake me for being a serial rapist or a drug addict. Not that it really affects me a lot, i'm pretty fine with myself. I just feel it's quite unfair as people always have a bad first impression over me. From experience, i look unapproachable and unfriendly and have a bad-guy face. But whatever it is, I'm grateful to have such good friends, and I'm sure my close friends know that i'm none of the above. =P

Hmm..yesterday, about the eating spree trip, me, Alicia, Gideon and Irene Wong went to explore Geylang. You know, Geylang is sort of split into two areas, the odd-numbered lorongs and the even-numbered ones. The latter being the one infamous for being a red light district. Man, there were so many prostitutes roaming around the whole area, most of them holding hands with dirty old men.    -Yucks-

The thing that intrigue me the most, there was this bar with a sign outside it stating :-

Small $89
Big $169

Either way, we still managed to get good food, durians, putu piring, bah kut teh, toasted buns, taufufah......and surprisingly, we only spent about $5 each...not bad. Well, that was the journey with the four of us...ending up with bigger tummies...typical Malaysians. We're planning to go hiking one of these days up Bukit Timah Hill. Can't wait till then, i'm starting to be a fan of physical activities =P

Everyone's out watching SPIDEY =(

You know what, Jurong Bird Park wasn't as bad as i thought it would be! First of all, only had to pay 4 bucks coz the church people had some free tickets. Then, there were nice friends who came along....Alicia, Irene Ooi, Irene Wong, Shu Ai, Nicholas, Quee Ee.....REally fun looking at those birds. Such wonderful creatures.

Oh yeah...about the title...You see, a few days ago, the people in the hostel were organising to go and watch Spidey 2 as a group today. Back then, was quite reluctant to pay so much and quite lazy, thought would rather relax. The next thing i know, they already bought the tix and there were like 30 of them going !!! Like, wahlau...missing out so much fun. And right now chatting with Kok Chin online, he's like telling me how good the show, i'm regretting even more ! But then again, it's okay. At least get to go online and chat a li'l as well as update my blogs and reply some emails with Kelvin's com. Surprisingly, he sort of got through the hostels wireless firewall, and hre i am, lol.

Oh, about yesterday, we went to Orchard after the bird park. Supposed to check out this new Glutton Square. It's supposedly something like Gurney Drive...just that it's sandwiched in between two roads and there's no sea. Sheesh, when we went there, what a disappointment! It was so crowded !!! There were more people than food. And there was something like 20-30 people queueing up a stall. We decided to eat somewhere else, ended up in Plaza Singapura's foodcourt where we had to wait like 20 minutes to get a table!

We walked around after that. Couldn't resist sales...there were like 50%, 70% written all over shops. And yeah, gave in to temptation by buying two pairs of Baleno three-quarts that were $16 each! Bought Baleno socks which were like $2 each pair, and another tee going for $8. Really a bargain. Overspent again, sigh ! The dilemmas of a shopaholic who doesn't have enough cash ==> feeling guilty after spending.

Oh right, think i'd better go get ready now. Irene Ooi's throwing a BBQ party at her aunt's condo somewhere at Yishun. Bet it'd be so fun. And i'll be wearing my newly bought Baleno shorts and Teva sandals there *smile from ear-to-ear* =)

Another boring Saturday, I suppose

*Yawn*. It’s just another lazy Saturday morning. Woke up this morning, as usual (a morning person) and managed to catch breakfast 5 minutes before the kitchen closes at 8.30 am. Surprisingly, breakfast was rather edible, with some fried fish and salad. Had some toast to go along, the rest I just threw into the Koi pond, bet they had a feast. But then again, what kind of feast could koi’s have with Singaporean food! haha.

Hmm..let me tell you about the Malay Test I just had yesterday. It was “SUPERB”! Out of 6 essay questions, they just had to ask 5 Singaporean based ones. “Terangkan langkah-langkah menjamin Singapura kekal sebagai destinasi utama pelancong.” That’s the topic I chose. It was real crap. I haven’t touched Malay Since SPM. I had to stop and think what word to use after writing two or three words, It was that bad! My mind was fully thinking in Malay ! You know, I’m gonna have my Malay A-Level Oral exam next week, and I haven’t used the language since…ermm..forgot already ! Probably I’ll start the ball rolling by “Selamat Pagi, Cik. Wah, cantiknya baju cik….Wah, gayanya beg Gucci cik….etc, lol”

Right now, it’s rather quiet in the hostel. Half of my friends are probably in their beds. But in awhile, a few of us…Nicholas, Alicia, Shu Ai, th two Irenes are going to the Jurong Bird Park with some church people. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to spend $12 SGD just to watch birds, but what the heck! Since I’m already in Singapore and there’s nothing much to do, I’ll just follow. And I regret not following the big group of hostel people to go watch Spiderman 2 Tomorrow. They booked like two whole row of seats. Probably just relax in the hostel and clear my room. Maybe even catch up on my studies, lol. Then tomorrow night, Irene Ooi’s hosting a BBQ for some of us new intakers….would be fun I suppose =)

Oh, yesterday, Gideon and I did something stupid. We really fully utilized our bus-passes. After the Malay paper, we wanted to have lunch outside of school. We didn’t know where, so we decided to hop on the first bud that passes us. Surprisingly, we ended up at Clementi, and the food there wasn’t bad at all. $1.90 for Nasi Lemak with chicken and egg…cool. Then, wanted to go to Orchard, but ended up in the wrong bus. Had to take another one back in the opposite direction. In Orchard…well….what did we do…nothing much really…Except for looking at how weird the fashion of today is! Then, we took another bus to Sim Lim, where I checked out some computer prices. Wish my brother was here or Kah Wei, at least I could get some advice and won’t risk the chance of getting cheated. Sometimes I wonder whether it’s really necessary to get a laptop…it’s so Ex.

While me and Gideon were doing this, Carynl, Alex, Sue Li and Sophia went to Orchard to shop. Wish I could split myself into to. But then again, we can’t have everything in this world. And as economists say, everything has an opportunity cost. Though, I suppose there’s no use comparing what benefits and utility would have been gained if I had done otherwise to follow the other gang . Yes, no use comparing in this world!

Got back home in time for dinner and cell. After that, used Vincent’s computer o go online and chat. Oh ya, had two bowls of instant noodles for supper, think it’s still somewhere in my tummy left undigested, I’ve this funny feeling right there, lol;

Well, think I’ll go bug my other hostel mates now. Probably get some oreos to munch on myself. Then get ready to spend 12 bucks on birds =P
